Mugubondibai - Mysore dhal halwa

Ingredients:

250gms dhal

200-250gms sugar (can lightly vary according to your liking)

150gms ghee

1 big onion

3 tbs finely chopped ginger

1 tsp ground cinnamon and cardamom 

Pinch of salt

1tsp rose water


Instructions:

1. Wash the dhal clean.

2. Add salt and bring to boil with 3cups of water.

3. Slice the onion, chop ginger finely.

4. Grind cinnamon and cardamom to a fine powder.

5. In a separate pan, heat ghee on medium low flame. Once heated, sauté the onion, ginger. 

6. Once onions are a little transparent and changed in colour, add sugar and stir well till sugar melts. 

7. Add the boiled dhal and keep stirring till it becomes slightly thick. There will be a resistance while stirring. 

6. Turn off the heat, add rose water and cinnamon and cardamom powder and let cool.
